Industrial site plan for homes
A former industrial site in Park Street is being put forward for possible residential development of nearly 200 homes including affordable housing.
The site at Frogmore used to house the Kwik Save and Bejam buildings. An outline application has been sent to planners by Barwood Developments Ltd of Milton Keynes, which is proposing a mixed development of 183 flats and houses with 35 per cent affordable homes.
Park Street district councillor Aislinn Lee said she was totally in favour of the application on principal as she had been promoting affordable-housing developments since her election.
"This is brilliant news for the villages especially if we get some rented accommodation at low cost. I welcome the idea wholeheartedly. This is a significant amount of affordable housing and we must approve appropriate developments," she said.
Cllr Lee pointed out that part of the industrial site had only been redesignated from "employment land" 12 months ago and she thought the remainder should be reconsidered in the same capacity.
