Assessing your Plot

Now that you have found a building plot that looks suitable you will need to investigate the site further and access it's suitability for the self build project you have in mind.

You will probably find 75% of the building plots you look at will resemble the local tip, you need to try and look beyond this and never dismiss a plot just because it looks a total mess.

The first thing to check will be the plot dimensions, if you have been given details by the agent or seller check these against the measurements you take on site. In order to check the dimensions you must determine the exact position of the boundaries, this may well be obvious with the site plan or well defined with fences, walls or bushes.
